BUSINESS TRANSITION

29.10.18: OUR JOURNEY TO INDEPENDENCE

It has been just over eight weeks since we started our transition to independence and I just wanted to give you an update on our progress and to share some good news as well as some of the challenges we have faced.

Dirk Jaspers, Facade & Glazing Solutions UK Ltd.

In the first few weeks, our priorities were focussed around ensuring you were kept well informed during the early stages of transition by completing requests for information quickly and processing new account set ups. Our marketing, commercial and purchasing teams were busy with communications and the re-brand. For those following us on Twitter you will have seen our new look offices and vehicles. Our new engineer’s uniforms have been so popular that the range has been extended and offered to all our teams.

We are pleased to confirm we have been working hard to re-secure all accreditations in FGS’s name and today, with just two accreditations outstanding due to longer approval processes we are pleased with the progress made. Rest assured we plan to secure all targets by the end of the transition.

The transition of services continues at pace but for now we are still connected to Saint-Gobain systems and processes, which caused confusion for our customers and suppliers in the early weeks. However, our systems continued to work allowing our operational teams to focus on project delivery. We have some months to go before our IT infrastructure will be completely separated and we all look forward to writing to you from our new FGS emails when the transition is complete.

Testament to the strength of our ongoing relationships with customers, and the positive handling of the change process, we are very pleased to report that the majority customers and suppliers are continuing to support us. We are also happy to let you know that in just the last few weeks we have seen some significant new customer wins amounting to several millions of pounds of new work annually.

We’d like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your continued support and we welcome any feedback on your experience of the transition. We look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,

Dirk Jaspers

Managing Director, Façade & Glazing Solutions

01.08.18: OUR BUSINESS TRANSITION BEGINS

Façade & Glazing Solutions UK Ltd – the transition from Glassolutions Installation

On the 1st August 2018 Façade & Glazing Solutions UK Ltd began trading.  The new identity and business was formerly the Contracting, Commercial Glazing and Insurance Services activities of Glassolutions owned by Saint-Gobain Glass (UK) Ltd.

Each of these service areas continues to rank amongst the leaders in their respective markets, and will benefit from the increased focus and reactivity offered by independent ownership.

The team at FGS are truly excited about the new business, our aim is to strengthen our market position by building and nurturing lasting relationships with our customers; through the delivery of a truly exceptional range of glazing services.

Business Infrastructure

The creation of the new business is described as a “carve out” and this alludes to the fact that the new business needs to separate its systems and processes from a large business or group. The FGS team are working with Saint-Gobain to separate finance and IT infrastructure and establish its own systems. During this period of “transition” to independence some of the processes will change more quickly than others and some will remain in place for a defined period of time.

We believe working with FGS in the future will deliver the following benefits to our customers;

  • Increased flexibility
  • Faster decision making
  • Simpler processes
  • Exceptional services

What will the changes mean for suppliers?

FGS will continue to work alongside our partners in the delivery of products and services across our all our existing markets and we look forward to maintaining our high standards on quality by using our professional supply chain partners.

We see this is as an exciting time for FGS and we feel this will be a positive move for all its supply chain partners as we grow our business and develop stronger trading relationships with our suppliers for the mutual benefit for FGS and its suppliers and subcontractors.
